EASTERN TIGER SALAMANDER Ambystoma tigrinum (Green, 1825)  

STATUS: Rare  

DOCUMENTED COUNTIES: Dallas, Kaufman  

HABITAT:  Post Oak Belt  

COMMENTS: The tiger salamander turns up in unlikely places occasionally such as roadside ditches, stock tanks, and temporary pools of water. It is used as bait in the larval form with the unused individuals often being released in the first available water. There are no recent records for this species.
